Establishment
The German Alumni Association was founded by a group of former Thai students in Germany, i.e. Dr.Chakrit Buranasamrit, Pol.Maj.General Dr.Nit Chaikiat, Mr.Porjai Chaiveru, Dr.Piya Bhirombhakdi, Mrs.Sukanya (Hiranprueck) Nimmanhaemin, Dr.Vichai Bamrungphol, Pol.Col.Samroeng Chulaka etc. who reached a common opinion that an alumni association should be established for a gathering of all former Thai students in Germany.
There are Thai students going to study in Germany since the reign of King Rama V. After returning to Thailand, a number of them provide numerous well-known contributions to the benefits and development of our nation, such as M.L.Dej Snidvongs, Prof.Dr. Prakob Hutasingh, Prof.Dr.Ouay Ketusingh etc.
VTD received the establishment approval in 1967, and took the 20th September, which was the date of birth of King Ananda Mahidol in Heidelberg, Germany, as our date of establishment. We were granted the Royal Grace to be taken under the Royal Patronage, and had our name registered adding “under the Royal Patronage of the King” on 24th June 1987.
